George Hall

NEW
INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR 2007 AND ON!
!!!!! IMMEDIATE OPENING !!!!
Working at Hall's Farm provides a great opportunity to learn organic farming hands-on
from a farmer with over 40 years organic agricultural experience. You would be amazed at the techniques! Come
work for us!
Two greenhouses have been added to the farm: one is heated, one is not and both
are in the dirt. Hall's Farm needs a self-starter to be responsible for greenhouse growing with George Hall's oversight.
In addition to regular field work, if selected, you may be required to:
-
research and recommend crops best suited to greenhouse climates,
-
document methodology and outcomes of growing strategies, timeframes and techniques,
-
create an
instruction manual for future use,
-
other duties as assigned.
Physical labor involved so physical fitness is important. A two year commitment is ideal, however,
if you are available for only one season, perhaps we can work with you. Please call George directly at 860 658 9297
to learn more. (Please be aware that the success of the greenhouse greatly affects the farm, so owner approval is required
before any recommendations are implemented.)
WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR HELP, SO PLEASE READ ON FOR OTHER OPPORTUNITIES.Each year,
Hall Farm selects 4-6 college students and several others interested in farm work including high school students to work
at the farm. If you’re interested, contact us !
For college students, send us your resume with cover letter explaining
what you hope to gain by working with us, and the dates you’re available.
For high school students, please send us a letter and contact information. Please describe your interest in farming and the dates you’re available.
Or, you can always call George Hall directly at 860 658 9297 for an interview!

What
do you gain by working at Hall’s Farm?
When
you work with us, you will learn how to farm organically, how to identify and care plants, and how to work hard. Really, don’t be fooled. Farming is hard work, but we
guarantee that you will find it satisfying. One of the things we hear most from
our students is that they feel good about and proud of the work they are doing and
what they are learning.
It’s
an open atmosphere, where we learn together. Bring and share your ideas! We’ll see if we can implement and/or improve them as a team.
What
about housing and pay?
Limited
on farm housing is available. Call the farm for more details
860-658-9297
Dress
requirements?
Working
in the elements can be hard on skin. We recommend long sleeves and jeans, hats
and sunscreen. Rainboots and raincoats are also helpful.
